Gunfire outside a local convenience store with the potential for catastrophic results has resulted in the arrest for one man charged with attempted murder and more, police working to identify a second suspect, Chief Donald Dowless of the Tabor City Police Department said Tuesday.

Patrick Wesley Brown Jr., 26, who has addresses on Ten Mile Road, Clarendon and Amber Lane, Whiteville, was arrested late Monday, Dowless said, possibly by state probation officers armed with the Tabor City warrants.

Brown, charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property, discharging a firearm in the town limits, and a felony probation violation, was held at the Columbus County Detention Center under secured bonds totaling $300,500, jail records show.
