Columbus courts, county offices closing due to Whiteville water leak

     A significant water leak in the Courthouse Square area of Whiteville has forced the closing of the Columbus County Courthouse at noon today, with several Columbus County government offices in the area shutting down at 1 p.m.

     Repairing the leak will take the remainder of the day, city officials estimated.

     Columbus County offices closing include:

•     Administrative Building including administration, county attorney, clerk, finance, EDC/Planning, human resources, and purchasing.

•     Tax Office

•     Register of Deeds

•     MIS

     County Manager Mike Stephens and Clerk of Court Jess Hill said they hope to resume normal operating hours Thursday.
