A Tabor City native was shot and killed on a busy Myrtle Beach street Wednesday night.

Ryan Rasheed Bryant, 27, died following the 9 p.m. shooting on SC 17 Bypass near 29th Avenue in Myrtle Beach, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Thursday.

Bryant, a former Tabor City resident and until Wednesday a Grand Strand area resident, was found in the highway after an off-duty Myrtle Beach Police Department officer reported gunfire. Other officers found Bryant, took measures to save him including CPR, MBPD spokesman Capt. Joey Cosby said.

Bryant was pronounced dead about an hour later at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Social media postings indicate that Bryant, with strong family connections in Tabor City, was a graduate of South Columbus High School.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 843-918-1382.

Additional information will be posted as events warrant and in the next Tabor-Loris Tribune in print and online.
