Dedicating a new sanctuary is a once-in-a-lifetime event, if then, at most churches.

Members at Cherry Grove Baptist Church have a little more practice than most, with the second such dedication in six years set for this Sunday, exactly two years and one week since fire nearly leveled the previous “new” CGBC sanctuary.

“It is unusual,” Sanctuary Building Committee Chairman Dan Strickland said. “But we’re thankful to be able to rebuild.”

A “Dedication/Celebration Worship Service” in the new sanctuary begins at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday, following Sunday School at 10 a.m. A luncheon is scheduled for noon in the Christian Fellowship Center, which has been home to morning worship and other activities at the church during the past year.

Current and former members, pastors, families, community members, contractors and sub-contractors, first responders, and more are invited, Strickland said.
