An early morning Labor Day car ride turned violent for a Tabor City couple, a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Phillip Chad Dorman, 38 and Tasheena Maria Culp, 33, told deputies they were travelling on Peacock Road in the area of Clyde Norris Road in the Iron Hill area at about 5:12 a.m. Monday “when the encountered a male standing in the roadway,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Michelle Tatum said.

“Immediately after passing the male, they heard gun shots hitting the vehicle,” Tatum said. “The vehicle was struck multiple times.”

No one was hurt, and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Tatum said.
