Social media threat prompts increased police presence at Horry schools

     Expect an increased police presence across the Horry County School District today, a resonse made “out of an abundance of caution” to a social media post threatening five high schools, both the Horry County Police Department and the school district said in news releases late Wednesday.

     Those schools include Loris, Green Sea, Aynor, Conway, and Carolina Forest high schools.

     “All local law enforcement agencies are aware of the situation and are actively investigating,” school district spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier said.

     “HCPD is currently working in coordination with other local law enforcement agencies and Horry County Schools to investigate the threat,” HCPD spokeswoman Mikayla Moskov said.
