McLeod Loris’ oldest volunteer celebrated her 100th birthday with a surprise celebration at the hospital Tuesday.

Sallie Kapps was surrounded by hospital staff, physicians and administration for the 100 themed party in the hospital cafeteria, a McLeod Health news release said Thursday.

“Ms. Sallie is an inspiration to us all,” said McLeod Loris Administrator Scott Montgomery. “She has a  true servant’s heart and wonderful spirit.”

Kapps has been a volunteer at McLeod Health Loris since 1984. Even at 100 years old, she continues to volunteer her time one to two days a week in the hospital gift shop.

“I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by good friends my entire life – that is my secret,” Kapps said.
