Ernest Monroe Elliott, Jr.: Nichols

1928 – 2019

     Ernest Monroe Elliott, Jr, of Nichols passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at his home. He was 91.

     Mr. Elliott was born on June 19, 1928 in Nichols to the late Ernest Monroe Elliott, Sr. and the late Flauda Mincey Elliott.

     Mr. Elliott worked as a mechanic on combines, tractors, and other heavy machinery. Mr. Elliott was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his daughter, Dianne Elliott Herring of Moyock; his brothers, Ausborne Elliott, Emerson M. Elliott, Robert C. Elliott, and Eugene Elliott; his sister, Donna Jones and husband, Joseph of Nichols; his sister, Loretta Patrick of Millen, Georgia; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his devoted caregiver, Angela Fowler.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was predeceased by his wife, Hilda Barfield Elliott; his brothers, John Elliott and A.B. Elliott; his sisters, Lucille Harris, Phyllis Bolton, and Sally Ladosca Altman.

     Graveside services were planned for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Mt. Olive Cemetery located at 1950 Mt. Olive Church Road with Pastor Stephen Vipperman officiating.
