Wilbur Kelly Arnette: Loris

1937 – 2019

     Wilbur Kelly Arnette of Loris passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville, following an illness. He was 82.

     Mr. Arnette was born on March 20, 1937 in Conway to the late Van John Arnette and the late Alice Williams Arnette.

     Mr. Arnette served his country with Honor and Courage in the United States Army. He was a longtime active member of Loris First Baptist Church.

     Mr. Arnette was the manager of Merita Bread Company for 35 years. He was a Master Mason loyal member of the Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston, and the Omar Temple of Charleston, SC.

     Survivors include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Donna Ann Shelley Arnette; his son, David Arnette and wife, Linda of Loris; his daughter, Kelly Holmes and her husband, Larry of Loris; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren and his God child, Kim Mills of Little River.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnette was predeceased by his three brothers, Jerry Bryant Arnette, John Wayne Arnette, and Van Jan “Pee Wee” Arnette.

     Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Hill and Mike Blanton officiating. Committal services followed at Princeville Cemetery.
