Erskine Ozzie Strickland: Tabor City

1931 – 2019

     Erskine Ozzie Strickland of Tabor City died Monday, Sept. 9, in Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. He was 88.

     Born May 11, 1931 in Horry County, he was the son of the late Hewey Strickland and Delphia Strickland and the widower of Bertha Mae Caulder Strickland.

     He is survived by six children, Mary R. “Bonnie” Ward, Melody Sussie Barnesm and Roger Locklear of Tabor City, Debbie Grainger of Raleigh, Rossie Strickland of Newton Grove, Linda Strickland of Whiteville; 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Strickland; brothers Pete, Baston “Bat”, Brice, Dayton, Glymp, and Hyman; sisters Neppie, Jeffie, and Gussie; and a granddaughter.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in Carolina Baptist Church, burial following in the Carolina Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the church.
