Marie Causey Smith: Loris
1934 – 2019
Marie Causey Smith of Loris was joyfully welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019. She was 85.
She was surrounded by family at her time of passing, and peacefully made whole and perfect in Christ.
Marie was born in 1934 in Loris to the late John Bailey Causey and Vera Todd Causey of Loris.
She served the Loris community for years as a business owner and cook, and never lost her love of providing a meal to anyone at her table.
She was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Loris. Her walk with Christ spanned many decades and was an invaluable example and inspiration to others. She was a generous giver of comfort, patience and love for all of her days. Her long life of faith led her to the most perfect moment of all when the Lord said to her, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” Let us all rejoice with her!
She was a devoted wife to the late E. Monroe Smith, and a loving mother to a daughter, Judy, and a son, Elbert Smith. She was a proud and delighted grandmother to two granddaughters, Courtney and Tabatha, from 1984 until her passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Smith G. Sedillo; five sisters, Chellie Wilson, Alma Lee Doyle, Patsy Mincey (Donnie), Katie Pearl Weeks, and Shirley Jones (Calvin); her brother, Donald (Kay); brother-in-law, Earl Causey; granddaughters, Courtney Boyce (John David) and Tabatha Tullis (Chris); and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Monroe Smith; her son, Elbert Bailey Smith; brothers Robert Causey, Thomas Causey, and Ronnie Causey; and a sister, Sylvia; all missed and beloved by her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating. Committal services followed at Holly Hill Cemetery.
