Vestus Nobles Turbeville: Thomasville

1930 – 2019

      Vestus (Bessie) Nobles Turbeville of Thomasville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was 89.

     Bessie was born on Nov. 27, 1930 in Columbus County, to the late Commie Devone Nobles and Louvenia Norris Nobles.

     She was married Jan. 14, 1952 to the late Elary Turbeville who preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1977. She was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church where she was a faithful member to the church and to her Lord and Savior, and she also enjoyed spending time gardening. Bessie worked for Kaby Mills for many years as a seamstress. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Marie Turbeville, several brothers and sisters, and three grandchildren.

     Surviving is her daughter, Leona Lewallen of Thomasville; four sons, Elary Turbeville and wife Jeannie of Winston Salem, Allen Turbeville and wife Debbie, Douglas Turbeville and wife Susan, William Michael Turbeville and wife Christy all of Thomasville; twelve grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 6 at J. C. Green & Sons funeral home in Thomasville.

     Funeral services were planned for 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at J.C. Green & Sons chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Hillis Burton and Rev. Tim Burton officiating, interment following at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amazing Grace Baptist Church at 661 Light Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360.
