Irene Sellers Godwin: Clarendon

1929 – 2019

     Irene Sellers Godwin of Clarendon died Wednesday, Dec. 11, in her home. She was 90.

     Born Oct. 25, 1929 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Pearson and Mary Norris Sellers and the widow of Deams Godwin.

     She is survived by two sons, Jerry Godwin and his wife Deborah and Dennie Godwin and his wife Mary Lou, all of Clarendon; two daughters, Judy Whitaker and her husband Jim of Ocean Isle Beach and Phyllis Mercer and her husband Tony of Chadbourn; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harmon Sellers, True Love Sellers and Eugene Sellers; three sisters, Juanita Clewis, Geneva Spencer and Doshia Nobles.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     A graveside service was planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
