A weekend armed robbery at the Dollar General in Williams Township left store employees shaken but unharmed, and netted two masked thieves some $3,000 in cash, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Two men wearing black hoodies, black pants and black masks entered the store on Mollie Road, just off of US 701, at about 10 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s spokeswoman Michelle Tatum said.

Both men were armed, holding store employees at gunpoint and “forcing them to open the safe,” Tatum said.

A customer walked in the store during the incident, and was also held at gunpoint, Tatum said. That customer was also unharmed.

Both suspects were last seen on foot heading towards Mollie on Mollie Road.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office at 910-642-6551.
