Milton Ross Barnhill: Clarendon

1941 – 2020

     Milton Ross Barnhill peacefully departed from his earthly home and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 19.

     He was born in Columbus County on Nov. 21, 1941.

     He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wilbur and Ada Barnhill; two sisters, Faye Barnhill and Doris Barnhill Todd.

     He served his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Afterwards he became an upholsterer, and later farmed for many years. He enjoyed coon hunting and meeting with friends in the mornings to drink coffee and just have fellowship.

     As long as his health permitted, he attended Bethel United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed visiting New Horizon Baptist Worship Center for Sunday night service conducted by his brother in law.

     He is survived by his wife, Alma of 55 years, daughter Dr. Tiffany Barnhill, sons,  Milton Russ Barnhill and Wilbur Ross Barnhill; five grandchildren, three sisters, Muriel Fowler, Brenda Huggins and Judy Ward (Tom).

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Barnhill Cemetery on Jim Jolly Road, Clarendon, conducted by Dr. Thomas L. Ward and Rev. Ricky Parker.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church at 9195 James B. White Hwy. S, Clarendon, NC 28432 or New Horizon Baptist Worship Center at 11316 Joe Brown Hwy. Tabor City, NC 28463.
