Ottis “Maxie” Williamson: Green Sea

1938 – 2020

     Ottis “Maxie” Williamson of Green Sea passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. He was 82.

     Maxie was born on Jan. 6, 1938 in Tabor City, to the late Ottis Williamson and the late Alma Irene Floyd Williamson.

     Maxie was an avid tractor, antique, and farm memorabilia collector who won many awards for his extensive collection throughout the years. He created his own Country Farm Museum on his property and was always willing and gracious enough to let friends and community members tour his grounds. People from 15 states and as far as Canada have visited his museum. He was a proud member of two tractor clubs and a fixture in the Green Sea Community where he was a longtime member of Green Sea Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Marguerite Powell Williamson of the home; his son, Rodney Maxie Williamson of Green Sea; two grandchildren, Blake Williamson and Bailey Williamson; his brother, H. Jimmy Williamson of Augusta, Georgia; and his sister, Althea Nelson of Mooresville.

     In addition to his parents, Maxie was predeceased by his sister, Irene Gause.

     Visitation was planned from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Green Sea Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

     Funeral services were to follow at 2 p.m. at Green Sea Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Brust officiating. Committal services were to be private.
