Robert James “Shep” Shepherd: Green Sea

1967 – 2020

     Robert James “Shep” Shepherd of Green Sea passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, at MUSC Health in Charleston surrounded by his family and friends. He was 52.

     Shep was born Dec. 14, 1967 in Loris, a son of Jimmy Shepherd and Martha Ann Collins Shepherd.

     He was a U.S. military veteran, retiring from the National Guard as a Sergeant First Class with 29 years of service.

     Survivors include his wife, Karen Shepherd of Green Sea; his father, Jimmy Shepherd of Hartsville; his mother, Martha Ann Collins Shepherd of Conway; four children, Lauren Cossentino of Myrtle Beach, Cody Baker of Green Sea, Taylor Shepherd of Galivants Ferry, and Johnathon Baker of Loris; a brother, Michael Shepherd of Loris; a sister,  Brenda Bryant of Galivants Ferry; numerous grandchildren; and other extended family.

     Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel with Rev. Cecil Gerald, Rev. Mitchell Barnhill, and Rev. Robert Brown officiating, committal services, with military honors, following at the Twin City Memorial Gardens.
