Dalma Marie Shannon Tyler: Loris

1927 – 2020

     Dalma Marie Shannon Tyler of Loris passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, at her home. She was 92.

     Mrs. Tyler was born on Sept. 19, 1927 in Loris to the late William Dow Shannon and the late Bertha Faulk Shannon.

     Mrs. Tyler was a loving homemaker and farmed with her husband until their retirement. She was an active member of Cane Branch Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities including Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Tyler loved helping others and often volunteered at Loris Community Hospital where she was the receptionist at the lab for many years. She will be most remembered as a loving Christian inspiration to all who were blessed to have known her. She never complained and was always ready to offer a kind word or uplifting deed.

     Survivors include her three daughters, Gail Tyler Porter, Judy Tyler Stevens and husband, Danny, and Kimberly Tyler Mishoe and husband, Glen all of Loris; daughter-in-law, Gayle Tyler of Loris; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

     Mrs. Tyler was predeceased by her husband, Needham Irlon Tyler; her son, Kenneth “Kenny” Dale Tyler; her brother, Kirby Shannon and her two sisters, Evelyn Shannon Long and Genevieve Shannon Elvis.

     Visitation was planned from 2 to 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Cane Branch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Johnson and Rev. Monty Porter officiating, committal services following at Cane Branch Cemetery.
