Charles Edward James: Loris

1938 – 2020

     Charles Edward James of Loris passed away on Sunday, March 8, at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 82.

     Mr. James was born on Feb. 9, 1938 in Loris, to the late Leamon Dewey James, Sr., and the late Ina Meice Harris James.

     Mr. James was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

     Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Hester Faulk James; son, Charles Timothy “Timmy” James of Loris; son-in-law, Barry Spivey of Conway; two daughters, Samantha Skipper of St. Augustine, Florida and Jennifer Anderson of Loris; five brothers, Leamon Dewey James, Jr., of Florence, Herman Paul James of Loris, Robert Wayne James of North Myrtle Beach, and Bobby Reynolds James of Goose Creek; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Carol James of Conway.

     Mr. James was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Spivey, grandson, Charles Brandon James,  and brother, Lloyd Collins James.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Hord and Reverend Mack Hutson officiating. Committal services followed at Hardee Cemetery.
