Columbus County’s DMV contract License Plate Agency office in Whiteville remains open for business, although the Driver License Office is among 60 in the state that has been closed in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
“We are open,” office manager Pam Merritt said.
Department of Motor Vehicles officials announced the closing of DMV offices across the state late Tuesday. While the announcement did not specifically say license plate officers were closing, it did encourage the use of online services for license plate renewals.
“We are open and encourage our customers to come,” Merritt said.
The License Plate Agency office is located at 201 East Main Street in Whiteville, on the corner of Franklin and Main streets, inside Merritt’s Sporting Goods.
