Jeanene Jenrette Lee: Tabor City

1960 – 2020

     Jeanene Jenrette Lee of Tabor City born September 25, 1960 died Tuesday, June 16, in McLeod Loris hospital. She was 59.

     Born Sept. 25, 1960, she was the daughter of Bettie Gore Jenrette and the late Harry Jenrette, Jr.

     In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Nelson Lee; children Madison Lee Ward (Justin) of Old Dock, Harrison “Rett” Jenrette Lee of Myrtle Beach, and Chessa Jalynn Lee of Tabor City; grandchildren Nash Ward and Noxx Ward; sisters Michele Jenrette Williams and husband Jonathan and Wendy Jenrette Fipps and husband Shawn; and a nephew, Jon Williams.

     A teacher and coach for 38 years in the North and South Carolina School systems, she played four sports at Methodist College and was Ms. Methodist College. She obtained her Master’s degree in Administration.

     She took the Tabor City High School girls basketball team to the North Carolina State Final 1-A championship game three consecutive years in a row, 1990-1992 for the first time in history.

     She loved to travel, loved all her students, loved to read and loved the beach. She served her Lord and Savior for 59 wonderful years. She loved her family more than anything. Her giving spirit and loving nature will be missed by all.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, in Tabor City Baptist Church, burial following in Gore Cemetery, Miller Road, Tabor City.
