Gene Rogers Hinson: Clarendon

1945 – 2020

     Gene Rogers Hinson of the Beaverdam Community, Clarendon, died Wednesday, June 24, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. He was 75.

     Born Jan. 16, 1945 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late George Lacy and Mattie Mae Cribb Hinson.

     He is survived by his wife, Nancy McPherson Hinson of the home; a son, Carey Gene Hinson of Clarendon; two daughters, India Jean Hinson Boswell of Whiteville and Misty Simmons of Clarendon; two sisters, Janice Powell and Virgie McPherson of Clarendon; and six grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Woodrow Hinson, George Lacey Hinson, Jr., Elbert Hinson, and E.T Hinson; and two sisters, Ruby Hinson and Mertis Hinson.

     Graveside services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, in Hinson Cemetery, James Hinson Road, Clarendon, visitation to follow in the cemetery.
