Betty Hewitt Floyd Munce: Loris
1943 – 2020
Betty Hewitt Floyd Munce of Loris passed away on Saturday, July 4, at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. She was 76.
Born Oct. 14, 1943 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late William Oscar Hewitt and the late Dollie Taylor Hewitt.
Mrs. Munce worked as a scheduler with the Talon Division of Textron in Loris until her retirement. After retirement, she worked for many years in management at the Jones Stores, Inc. She was a longtime member of the Loris First United Methodist Church, but will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her daughter, Regina Holmes and husband, Sammy of Loris; four grandchildren, Christopher Wayne Holmes and wife, Ashleigh, Courtney Blair Holmes Suggs and husband, Edward, Brittney Ann Holmes Flowers and husband, Mitchell, and Graham Cole Floyd; seven great-grandchildren, Case Holmes, Becca Holmes, Treble Flowers, Ansleigh Suggs, Haven Suggs, Brooks Suggs, and Hudson Floyd; sisters Patricia Lewis of Loris, Judy Prince and husband, Eddie of Tabor City, Dorothy Little and husband, Ronald of Florence, and Joyce Brown of Loris.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Munce was predeceased by her first husband, Wendell Floyd, Sr.; her second husband, Paul M. Munce; two sons, Gary Wayne Floyd and Windell Floyd, Jr.; and a brother, Donald Hewitt.
Graveside services were planned for 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Antioch Cemetery in Loris with Pastor Mack Hutson officiating.
Family planned to receive friends during the half-hour preceding the service, and immediately following, at the cemetery.
