John Alex Toth: Loris

1924 – 2020

     John Alex Toth of Loris passed peacefully in his family home on Friday, Nov. 13, with his niece by his side. He was 96.

     He was born July, 29th 1924 in Lorain, Ohio and has lived in Loris for 35 years. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, served with courage and honor in the United States Army, was a POW and veteran of WWII. He worked and retired proudly as a Quality Control Engineer at General Industries after many decades of loyalty.

     John, known to many as Uncle Johnny, was a loving husband to his late wife, Emma Toth of whom were married for 69 loving years, proud veteran, and beloved brother, uncle and friend to all that knew him. You would find him making everyone he met laugh with his numerous jokes both gifted or told daily. A man who was never short on words or stories, he wore a smile every time he saw you and loved his family passionately.

     John was survived by his brother, Daniel Toth of Rancho Cucamonga, California; his sister, Arlene Alcantra of Portland, Oregon; and many beloved generations of nieces and nephews.

     John was preceded in death by his wife Emma Toth; brother Joseph Toth; sister Helen Towle; infant brother John Toth; infant sister Helen Toth; and parents Daniel and Julia.
