John Shelton Hayes: Green Sea
1955 – 2020
John Shelton Hayes of Green Sea, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 17. He was 65.
John, known to all as Johnny, was born in Marion County, on Feb. 13, 1955 to John Thomas Hayes and Annette Price Hayes.
Johnny was a kind, gentle, loving and patient man who was regarded as one of the most humorous people to grace the earth. He was very fond of music, poetry, plants, and animals. He especially enjoyed driving on the frozen lakes of Alaska. Always willing to lend a helping hand to others he gave special effort to all grandmothers as they reminded him of his fondest memories of his adolescent years with his grandmothers.
Johnny will be remembered with deep affection and love for the many times he made us laugh till our sides hurt from his humorous actions and stories. We will think of him often when we see a home overflowing with well-loved plants and strangers helping strangers.
Johnny is survived by three sons, Donn Leo Alexander Hayes, Jason Adam Hayes and Drew John Hayes, all of Alaska; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Surviving family would like to extend a most sincere appreciation for the love and friendship shown to their father by his employer and friend Jimmy Wilson of Loris and co-worker and dear friend Dean Norris of Green Sea. The trio had 30 plus years of friendship, trust and working together.
Even with so many carrying his memories and qualities, his presence will be deeply missed.
No services will be held.
