Fire quickly consumed most of a Tabor City area mobile home Tuesday morning, leaving little but smoldering debris for investigators from the Columbus County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.

A neighbor called in the blaze on Woodview Drive east of Tabor City just before 7 a.m., responding firefighters from Tabor City, Roseland and Williams Township finding the single-wide full of fire when they arrived, Tabor City Fire Chief Jeff Fowler said.

Tabor City Emergency Services also responded with an ambulance.

No one was home at the rental property owned by Willie Powers, Columbus County Deputy Fire Marshal Chase Lancaster said.

“The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation by us and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office,” Lancaster said.
