An arrest Columbus County Sheriff Jody Greene said “saddens me” involved a deputy assigned as a bailiff, charged early Wednesday with felonies that allege he provided a marijuana and a pornographic image to another person.
Bradley Scott Rockwell, 48, was charged with sale and delivery of a schedule 6 controlled substance, marijuana; possession with intent to sell and deliver the drug; maintaining a place for the controlled substance; and disseminating obscenity.
Bond for Rockwell was set at $50,000, secured.
Employed by the Sheriff’s Office for two years, Rockwell is a “long-time law enforcement officer,” Sheriff Greene said in a news release. He was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his home on Evergreen Baptist Road, Evergreen, at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Rockwell, sheriff’s warrants allege, delivered through Facebook Messenger “an obscene picture, picture of uncovered male genitals; and delivered marijuana to the same person, both offenses taking place Tuesday. He is also accused of possessing 1.1 grams of marijuana, with intent to distribute.
“Let me be crystal clear, I do not care who you are, what you do, your social and economic status, race, religion, or color, if you take part in distributing drugs in Columbus County, expect to see me at your door next,” Greene said. “This really hurts the hard working and honest law enforcement officers of Columbus County and across our great nation.
“However, we are held to a higher standard and this office will hold those accountable that choose to break the law.”
Greene called the investigation “ongoing.”
