An arrest in Elvington murder

An arrest Wednesday in the kidnapping and murder of elderly western Horry County resident Mary Ann Elvington was announced jointly by the Horry County Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Dominique Davonah Brand, 29, of Marion was charged with murder, kidnapping, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, a joint news release from the neighboring law enforcement agencies said.
Arraignment before a Marion County Magistrate was scheduled for Thursday morning as the investigation continues across multiple jurisdictions with the assistance of local, state, and federal authorities,” the news release said.
Additional information will be released “in the coming days,” the news release said.
“Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace along with Horry County Police Chief Joe Hill sincerely thank the citizens of this area for their patience and assistance while authorities continue to work diligently on this case.”
