COVID-19 vaccinations are readily available across Columbus County, Health Director Kim Smith says, with a state-contracted clinic bringing first-dose Pfizer vaccines to Chadbourn this Sunday.

StarMed, which hosted similar clinics in Tabor City, Whiteville and Riegelwood, will hold its latest clinic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Westside Alumni Building, 650 West Smith Street in Chadbourn.

To schedule an appointment call 980-445-9818 or visit StarMed.care.

Previous clinics had allowed vaccinations without appointments, but only if all appointments have not been filled.

CRHS expands visitor guidelines

With vaccination numbers rising, and coronavirus case numbers declining, Columbus Regional Healthcare is loosening visitor restrictions at its flagship hospital in Whiteville, spokesperson Stephanie Miller said Friday.

Beginning Monday, April 12, patients admitted to the hospital may have up to two visitors, with visiting hours ending at 9 p.m. daily.

Emergency Department patients may have one visitor, minors may have two.

Critical Care Unit (CCU) patients may have one visitor during visiting hours. CCU visiting hours are from 5 to 6 a.m., 9 to 10 a.m., noon to 3 p.m., 5 to 6 p.m., and 8:30 to 10 p.m.
