Tri-County team makes area drug, gun arrests

     Men and women from Tabor City, Loris, Chadbourn and Whiteville are among those facing felony drug and weapons charges following an operation by the Tri-County Community Impact Team (C.I.T.) Task Force on May 7, a news release Wednesday from Columbus County Sheriff Jody Greene said.

     “Specially trained deputies from Bladen, Robeson, and Columbus Counties worked together to focus their efforts on specific problem areas in Columbus County,” the news release said. “As a result, 40 warnings were issued, 14 citations were issued, and 11 arrests were made.” The following individuals were arrested:

     C.I.T. members meet monthly “to coordinate efforts to continue to target problem areas in Bladen, Robeson, and Columbus Counties,” the news release said. “Citizen complaints are the driving force of this task force. It is important that citizens in these counties contact their Sheriff’s Office to report their concerns.”

     Ten people were arrested on felony charges. They include.

Tabor City

  • Aaron Dixon McCumbee, 39, of Stevens Street, arrested on Green Acres Road in Tabor City. He was charged with felony possession of heroin, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Amelia Earhart McPherson, 38, of Horace Cox Road, arrested on Green Acres Road. She was charged with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin, felony possession of SCH II CS, and felony maintaining a vehicle.
  • Jimmy Leevon Swinton, 43, of Swamp Fox Hwy East, arrested on Swamp Fox Hwy. He was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver cocaine, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver marijuana, and felony maintaining a vehicle.
  • Christopher William Hemingway, 39, of Pine Circle Road, arrested on Cox Town Road. He was charged with felony possession of Sch II CS and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Loris

  • Frances Moia Hampton, 44, of Highway 66, arrested on Cox Town Road in Tabor City. She was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chadbourn

  • Malcolm Watts III, 60, of Hickory Hill Road, arrested on Dessie Road. He was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of SCH II CS, misdemeanor possession of Sch III CS, and felony maintaining a vehicle.
  • Sidney Dale Nobles, 65, of Hickory Hill Road, arrested on Dessie Road. He was charged with felony possession of Sch II CS, a failure to appear on a misdemeanor probation violation, and an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor communicating threats.

Whiteville

  • Corey James Harrison, 21, of West Lewis Street, arrested on Virgil Street and JK Powell Blvd. He was charged with felony possession of a firearm by felon, misdemeanor possessing/concealing a weapon, and misdemeanor possession of SCH VI.
  • Bobby Currie, 66, of Whitehall Road, was arrested on Tom Sessions Road. He was charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.
  • Wallace Thomas Baldwin, 42, of Farmers Union Road in Clarkton, was arrested on Tom Sessions Road in Whiteville. He was charged with felony possession of Sch II and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
