A school year that was anything but normal ended almost normally Saturday for the South Columbus High School Class of 2021 with an indoor commencement not seen on campus since 2019.
Class President Madison Grigsby eluded to the pandemic impacted junior and senior years she and her classmates navigated before she and some 150 other Stallion seniors were awarded their diplomas by Principal Adam Thompson, assisted by Assistant Principal Michelle Simmons, who announced the graduates, and Assistant Principal Carla Faulk.

Stallion tassels turned
Thompson, before telling the new graduates to turn their tassels, encouraged them to always aim high, to never settle for less than their best, and to heed the advice of legendary NC State basketball coach the late Jim Valvano, to “never give up, never give up, never give up.”
