Boston Butt fundraiser for fire victims

A Boston Butt sale to benefit a Gapway area family who lost their home and belongings to a recent fire has been launched by the Columbus County Fire & Rescue Association.

Annette Soles and her extended family, including her boyfriend and Lake Waccamaw firefighter David Vela, escaped the fire, though five of the six in the mobile home at the end of CH Buffkin Avenue west of Tabor City suffered serious burns in the Nov. 29 blaze.

Tickets for the fully cooked Boston Butts are on sale through Dec. 10, with the meat available for pick-up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, just in time for a Christmas feast.

For tickets or details call Columbus County Fire Marshal Shannon Blackman at 910-840-4835 or Deputy Fire Marshal Chase Lancaster at 910-207-3333.
