Two people are in custody in the January 23 murder of a Tabor City area teen, including a juvenile, as the victim has been identified.
Jeremiah Nyree Long, 18, died of gunshot injuries after being taken by ambulance to McLeod Loris hospital, a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office news release said.
Long was a senior at South Columbus High School.
Jalen Amari Campbell, 19, and a 17-year-old not identified because of his age, were both taken into custody in Socastee, the juvenile on Jan. 24, Campbell a day later.
Charged with murder, Campbell remained in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center near Conway Thursday without bond on a fugitive warrant.
A deputy responding to a report of someone with a gunshot wound in the 3800 block of Old Dothan Road Tabor City Monday afternoon found Long in a field, with people there “administering first aid,” the news release said. “The deputy assisted emergency first aid efforts until Nakina Rescue arrived on scene to take over.”
Investigators are still at work on the case. Anyone with related information is asked to contact the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office at 910-642-6551.
