Potential for threatening weather Saturday (April 22) has forced a rescheduling of the third annual Spring Has Sprung Festival in Tabor City.
“Due to the impending inclement weather, which may include severe thunderstorms in our area, the decision has been made to err on the side of caution for everyone’s safety and postpone the Spring Has Sprung Festival from April 22 to Saturday, April 29,” Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Cynthia Nelson said Friday in an e-mail announcement.
Despite the delay, organizers are planning for a great day ton include magic, a cruise in, KidZone, petting park and more are promised starting at 10 a.m. in the grassy lot between 4th and 5th streets, across from the Tabor City Fire Department.
A parade will begin at 11 a.m.
Planned highlights include:
- The Magic of Ray: Ray Hardee is a Master Magician. He is the in-house magician for Riverbanks Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Columbia where he has performed for the past 19 years. He has also performed at the Andy Griffith Theater and the Earl Theater in Mount Airy. This family show for all ages has been perfected by Ray during his 35 years as a professional magician.
- Cruise In: Cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors are invited to set up on West 5th Street, where judging will be by people’s choice.
- KidZone: Star Farm will bring inflatable, a trackless train, and a petting park to the KidZone area.
To take part as a vendor or to enter the parade call 910-377-3012. There’s space for craft vendors, and applications will be accepted through April 27. Potential food vendors will need to call the Chamber and check on the availability of space.
