A pork chop plate sale to benefit the Emerson Original Free Will Baptist Church Youth League is this Friday at the church.
Plates will sell for $7 each from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 4 to 7 p.m. Each plate will include two boneless pork chops, yams, green beans, roll and dessert.
Eat in or take out, all are invited. The church is located at 80 Emerson Church Road, just off of Stake Road, north of Tabor City. Heath Conner is the pastor.

Members of the Mt. Rona Church family in Loris are inviting missionaries of District IV and their friends to an afternoon program on Sunday, Feb. 10.
Rev. Linda Brown of Little Iron Hill Missionary Baptist Church will bring the message during the 4 p.m. program.

A Sportsman’s Banquet is coming to Victory Baptist Church in Whiteville.
Starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, the event will feature live blue grass music, barbeque, door prizes, wild game tasting, a cornhole challenge and more.
Boys and girls, men and women age 6 and older are invited.

A focus on Native American issues will be part of morning worship at Loris First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Speaking at the 10:30 a.m. service will be Zan Tracey Pender, chair the Secretary of the United Methodist Southeastern Jurisdiction Association of Native Americans Council and Elder for the American Indian Scouting Association.
His paternal grandmother was an American Indian of both South Carolina’s Yasumasa and Santee tribes.
Pender has two associate degrees in applied sciences in criminal justice and social science from the Community College of the Air Force. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling from Webster University along with graduating from the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute.
He is also well versed in cross-cultural communications, investigating hate crimes, allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment. He retired from the United States air Force in 2001, after serving more than 20 years.
