There were no records set as Kirk Nobles and John Brookfield, members of the Orrum based Xtreme Strength Team and ministry, pulled a 30,000 pound truck a mile through Tabor City on Saturday.
    That wasn’t really the point.
“Our purpose, really, is to bring people together to share the message of Jesus Christ,” Nobles said after the 2 hour, 18 minute pull. That was twice the hour and 9 minute world record they set in Fairmont on Oct. 13.
Nobles is chaplain at South Columbus High School, and the effort was supported by school Athletic Director Jake Fonvielle and some of his athletes.
Nobles and additional members of the Xtreme Strength Team finished up the day with a strength demonstration and ministry session at the Tabor City Visitor Center.
More on this story, and additional photos, can be found in the Nov. 28 Tabor-Loris Tribune print edition.
