Fertilizer spilled

A tractor-trailer loaded with liquid fertilizer overturned on Complex Street, just off of U.S. 701 Bypass, before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Tabor City Fire Department members pulled the windshield out to free the lone driver, who was walking and did not appear to have any serious injury. He was taken to McLeod Loris hospital by Tabor City Emergency Services, as HERR, a local hazardous materials cleanup company, responded to contain leaking fertilizer and diesel fuel.
One witness said it appeared the driver swerved to avoid another vehicle, though Capt. Dean Foley of the Tabor City Police Department, said that was not confirmed early in his investigation.
