Virginia Boyd Powell: Loris
Virginia Boyd Powell of Loris passed away Friday, Feb. 8. She was 94.
Mrs. Powell was born in Loris, a daughter of the late Mack Boyd and the late Molsie Cox Boyd.
Mrs. Powell was a longtime devoted member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Powell was predeceased by her husband, Arthur M. Powell; one son, Charles Boyd Powell; and two brothers, Everette Boyd and Claude Boyd.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy C. Powell, Sr. and Eddie P. Powell, both of Loris; seven grandchildren; one sister, Geneva Dyer of Texas; and 13 great-grandchildren.
An expression of deep gratitude is extended to her loving caregivers, Elizabeth Housand, Tammy Norris, and Mattie Fowler.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
Funeral services was planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 from Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Kyle Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin City Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, 1040 Mt. Zion Road, Loris, SC 29569.
