Downtown readies for Loris in Bloom

Loris in Bloom 2012
Planners say Loris will be at its prettiest this Saturday for the fourth annual Loris in Bloom Spring Festival.
Sweet scents will fill the air, all the colors on the palate will be on display as farmers and other vendors bring plants, flowers, food and unique crafts to the downtown celebration.
Some 3,000 attended the 2012 celebration, said Samantha Norris of the sponsoring Loris Chamber of Commerce.
“Everyone had a great time,” Norris said.
Organizers expect more of the same, but better, for 2013. A kid’s area will include inflatables, with live entertainment, a farmer’s market, Home & Garden expo, arts, crafts and plenty to eat promised.
Party Favor Band will headline a free, 2 p.m. concert. Other scheduled entertainment includes talent showcase winners, Carolina Vocals, students from Daisy Elementary School, Arts Alive, and Foreverland World Film and Academy.
Opening ceremonies will feature Mayor David Stoudenmire at 9 a.m., and the festival will wind down about 4 p.m.
