Walneta Caulder Godwin:Sidney Community

    Walneta Caulder Godwin of the Sidney community near Whiteville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center in Whiteville, following an illness. She was 84.
    Born on January 20, 1929 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of Mr. Arthur Caulder and Mrs. Etta Mae Bowen Caulder. She was married to Mr. David Eliga Godwin of Beaverdam. 
    Mrs. Godwin was a longtime member of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church and a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer at The Columbus County Help Mission.  She will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all.
    Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Jean Godwin Hinson and husband, Scott of Evergreen; two sons, Kipling Eliga Godwin and wife, Myra of Williams Township, Tony Delane Godwin and wife, Angela of Smyrna, three grandsons, Christopher Scott Hinson, Chandler Delane Godwin and Logan Delane Godwin, all of Whiteville, and two great-grandsons, Christopher Austin Hinson and Brandon Scott Hinson, also of Whiteville.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godwin was predeceased by her stepmother Edna Mae Ward Caulder, her husband David Eliga Godwin; her brothers, Frederick Gray Caulder and Jerome Caulder.
   Visitation was planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church Sanctuary.
    Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Seay, Jr. and Rev. Buster Benton officiating.  Committal services were to follow at McPherson Cemetery.
