J.D. Lovette: Green Sea

    J.D. Lovette of Green Sea died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday June 9 in the Loris Extended Care Center. He was 85.
    Born in Horry County, he was the son of the late Curtis and Sallie Strickland Lovette. He was preceded in death by his, wife Wilma Ruth Moore Lovette. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
    He is survived by two daughters, Derhonda Lovette Bonnette of Loris, and Phyllis Elliott Elvington and husband Charles of Green Sea; two sons, Donald C. Lovette of Myrtle Beach, and Michael T. Lovette and wife Sherry of Green Sea; a brother, M.C. Lovette of Green Sea; a sister, Ruby Thiem of Florence; and four grandchildren, Amy Bonnette Pavlini and husband Michael of Charlotte, Matthew P. Elliott of Rock Hill, John Mark Elliott of Green Sea, and Webb Elvington of Savannah, Ga.
    Mr. Lovette was a lifelong member of Gapway Baptist Church where he faithfully served as deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for more than 30 years and several years as church treasurer.
    The family would like to thank all of the Loris Extended Care Center staff, including Administrative team members Vickie, Laurie, Mysi and Mina; Nurses Sherrill, Peter, Debbie, Shelley, Diane and Tracy; CNA’s Regina, Alfreda, Ivy, Natressa, Rebekka, Miranda, and especially Doris Godfrey.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, in the Gapway Baptist Church by Rev. Jerry Phillips and Phyllis Elvington with burial following in the Lovette Family Cemetery, Green Sea. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
    Pallbearers were Sherrill Wilson, Joe Floyd, Tiger Lovette, Julius Rowe, Jimmy Fowler, and Woody Strickland. Honorary Pall Bearers were Timmy Watts, Glen McNeil, and Roosevelt Haney.
