Walking against elder abuse

Elder abuse, a real and often ignored problem in society, was the focus an awareness walk staged in Tabor City and elsewhere in Columbus County Thursday morning.
Elder abuse happens daily, Tabor City Senior Center Director Susan Prince said, and affects about three percent of the elderly population, She urged those who become aware of elder abuse to report it, either to the Department of Aging, Department of Social Services, or to law enforcement when appropriate.
