Sgt. Donald William Carter, Jr.: Loris
Sgt. Donald William Carter, Jr., of Loris passed away Thursday, July 11 at his home following a sudden illness. He was 31.
Sgt. Carter was born on November 9, 1981 in Augusta, Ga. After graduating high school he served his country with courage and honor in the United State Army for more than ten years earning the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War of Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Survivors include his mother, Terri W. Fowler and her husband, Timmy of Loris; his father, Donald William Carter, Sr. and wife, Lisa of Savannah, Ga.; his sisters, Jennifer Corbett of Pelion, and Wendy Wright and Amber Nobel of Lexington, and two half-sisters, Payton and Christian Fowler both of Loris.
Sgt. Carter was predeceased by his sister, Angel Carter Kimbel.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at Florence National Cemetery.
Visitation was planned from 10 a.m. to Noon Tuesday, July 16 at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.
Memorial services were planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at Bible Baptist Church located at 111 Peachtree Rock Road, Lexington.
