Rose Mary Davis: Whiteville

    Rose Mary Davis of Whiteville died Sunday, Aug. 11. She was 55.
    She was born in Germany and grew up at Lake Waccamaw the daughter of the late Police Chief John Sobczak and Doris Dew Sobczak.
    She was a substitute teacher in the Whiteville Public Schools and formerly employed with Interim Healthcare.  She received a criminal justice degree from Southeastern Community College.
    She is survived by her husband, Van Davis; a daughter Mary Ellen Davis of Whiteville, Virginia Long of Wilmington; two grandsons; four sisters, Josephine Albergo and Jeannie Galloway, both of Inverness, Fla., Doris Bell of Whiteville, Anne Etheridge of Crusoe.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia E. Ross of Michigan.
    Visitation was planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Peacock Funeral Home in Whiteville.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.  14 at Trinity Baptist Church in Whiteville.
