Mary Spivey Buffkin: Green Sea

    Mary Spivey Buffkin of Green Sea passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21 at McLeod Hospital in Florence. She was 84.
    Mrs. Buffkin was born in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Caleb Dallie Spivey and the late Grace Munn Spivey.  
    Mrs. Buffkin was a graduate of Tabor City High School and retired from Horry County Schools.  
    She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George Buffkin, one brother, and three sisters.
    Survivors include three children, Cathy Shirley and her of Honea Path, Sandy Hammond of Inverness, Fla., and Tim Buffkin of Green Sea; three sisters, Matt Kennedy, Marie Huggins, and Shelby Kennedy all of Florence; one brother, Buck Spivey of Florence; her grandchildren, Beth Morgan, Keri Hammond, Jeff and Amber Hammond, Seth and Melody Shirley, Matt Shirley, Rachel and Ryan Boggs, Leah Buffkin, and Lana Buffkin; and six great-grandchildren.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
    Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Green Sea Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating.  Burial was to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City.
