Dula Belle Jacobs Suggs: Tabor City
Dula Belle Jacobs Suggs, the cherished wife, companion, and helpmate of Julius King Suggs for 65 years left behind her recent pains and turmoil on Sunday, Sept. 8.
She was born at home in the Nakina community on Sept. 28, 1927 to Will and Nettie Jacobs.
She bore and helped rear five children: Janice Suggs Gore, Ronnie Suggs, Mike Suggs, Kenneth Suggs and Gloria Smith Suggs. She had twelve grandchildren. She had two younger sisters: Mae Jacobs Ward Barnes and Rosa Nell Jacobs Cartrette and brothers: Elbert Jacobs, Floyd Jacobs, J.B. Jacobs, and Joe Jacobs. Other siblings included sisters: Effie Ellis, Ressie Ward, Letha Williamson and Lucy Jacobs and brothers: Pink Jacobs, Gordon Jacobs and Grover Norris.
She was a child of the Great Depression who loved and married a survivor of World War II. She enjoyed the great joys of life and had family and friends with her when she left this life behind. She always looked forward to a warm greeting from family who went to heaven before her, led she expected by her oldest sister Letha. May her journey there be blessed.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Dulah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Family visitation was to be held the hour before services in the church.
The family expresses thanks for well wishes and shared memories of all.
