Charles William Platt: Loris

   Together again with his beloved wife Pearle Platt, Charles William Platt of Loris passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17. He was 92.
    Billy, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on Dec. 24, 1920 to Dewey Victor Platt and Eva Blanch Hardee Platt. He served his country with courage and honor in the U.S. Army.
    Billy is survived by his two sons, William Richard Platt of Madison, and Billy Wayne Platte of Little River; daughter, JoAnne P. Wilkes of Aberdeen; brother, James Platt of Loris; three sisters, Doretha Smith of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., Gertrude “Trudy” Sarvis of Loris and Bobbie Jean Brannon of Buford, Ga; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Pearle Grainger Platt; one brother, Admiral Platt and five sisters, Jessie Dell Lewis, Oleta Duncan, O’Nell King, Hattie Stephens and Louise Edge.
    Graveside services were planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Dr. John Gambrell officiating.
    Visitation was planned for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.
