Voters evenly split on mixed drinks in TC
By DEUCE NIVEN
Voting in Tabor City’s mixed drink referendum ended Tuesday in a 133-133 tie, a decision guaranteed not to be final, Columbus County Board of Elections Supervisor Carla Strickland said.
Provisional ballots cast Tuesday are not included in the total, and won’t be known until the Board of Elections meets to canvas the votes next week, Strickland said. Additionally, there was one absentee ballot sent out of the country, and not received as of Tuesday, she said. That ballot must be postmarked by election day, today, to be valid.
In separate measures, voters in Fair Bluff and Chadbourn apparently approved the sale of mixed drinks in restaurants and other establishments.
