Elaine Currie Hawa: Conway

    Elizabeth Elaine Currie Hawa of Conway passed away Monday, Nov. 4 at Conway Medical Center following an illness. She was 87.
    Born on April 21, 1926, in Loris, she was the daughter of Mr. Neal Archie Currie and Mrs. Inez Rogers Currie both of whom grew up in Laurinburg. 
    Mrs. Hawa was a retired secretary and of the Presbyterian faith but will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
    Survivors include her two sons, Paul Hawa, Sr. and wife Ann and Wayne Hawa and wife, Gail, all of Conway; five grandsons, Paul M. Hawa, Jr., Stephen J. Hawa, David J. Hawa and wife, Jennifer, Seth D. Hawa and Jason A. Hawa and wife, Karen and their son Drew; one great-grandchild, Alec J. Hawa; two brothers, Robert  Currie and Malcom Currie and wife, Shirley and a great nephew, J. J. Currie.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawa was predeceased by her husband, George Michael Hawa and five brothers, Neal Currie, Jr., Tommy Currie, Wayne Currie, Jimmy Currie and Harry Currie.
    The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the nurses and staff at station four in Conway Manor, the second floor nurses and staff at Conway Medical Center, Mercy Hospice and Dr. Charles Sasser for all of the loving care they gave Mrs. Elaine Hawa and her family during this difficult time.
    Committal services will be private.
