Floyd Simmons: Whiteville

    Floyd Simmons of Whiteville died Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter in Whiteville. He was 86.
    Born in Clarendon, he was the son of the late John Oscar Simmons and Mary Susan Williams Simmons. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Simmons;  a daughter, Mary Frances Simmons; a son, Gary Wayne Simmons; five brothers and one sister; and one granddaughter.
    He is survived by two sons, Ernie Simmons of Chesnee, and Floyd Dale Simmons of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
    Visitation was planned from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Inman Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, in the Inman Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
